So I took up crocheting just over a week ago so that I could make a cupcake scarf as I couldn't afford the one my friend showed me and here are the results - yes all I can see are the mistakes but all in all I am pretty proud of myself ☺
Not the way you want to start the day - or end it or anything really - grey - drizzly and dull and cold and it's the middle of August darn it - but there was this lovely splash of colour peeping over a wall at me!
So it's summer and it seems a long time since we had a day without rain - but I'm sure that it's not really true - it's probably been a few days - but the trees are starting to shed their leaves as though it is autumn - but there aren't the pretty colours that you get in Autumn. And something about this leaf really caught my eye - the vein structure.......
So this picture disgusts me. Look at all the blood on that poor bull. Recently one part of Spain finally banned bull fighting. Shortly after during a fight a bull jumped the barrier and ran wild in the crowd. They got what they wanted didn't they? A fight and the death of the bull at the end!?!!?? Quite often the bull is drugged up anyway - hardly a fair fight now. Nothing should be hurt for money - we are meant to be a civilised race.
This window display always makes me think I am looking into someone's house. It's a lovely little workshop for all things to do with crafts - and soon they are going to be opening it as a shop too - just in time for me to take over the world with my crochet!
I've never seen this driving around just parked up near where I live - it's pretty cool I think - kitted out quite nice on the inside and an insult to Jeremy Clarkson on the back wheel arch - or whatever you call it!
The odd glimpse from amongst the clouds - or at least that is how it feels at the moment - where are the blue skies and the lovely blooms! You get the odd moment where you can see lovely shots like this - then it's back to feeling like autumn. So many trees are shedding their leaves already - it's quite odd.
So, I've always envied people that can knit - especially those like my mom who can do so whilst watching the tv and chatting. Watching me knit is painful. I was bought some knitting when I was off recovering from my operation and I just kept getting my mom to 'show me one more time please' until it was pretty much done.....so I decided to take up crochet - I got my kit on Saturday evening......the results are not so pretty but then I suppse we all have to learn and I can't expect to crochet up a storm straight away!
Seeing as my little orchid has behaved itself so well, we bought it a companion - it's a huge beast of an orchid - not that you can really use the word beast and orchid together but.....it's got two stems and about a billion flowers on it.....ok, maybe it's not got quite a billion on it but it's lots and lots plus 1.
That really annoying thing happened to me again today - you know that thing - when items jump off shelves and into your hands and there is nothing you can do but buy the item, otherwise you would get done for shop lifting - well it's been happening to me a bit just lately and today I ended up with this bag because of it! I think it's one of the best things!!
My Orchid has re-flowered for the first time and I am like a proud Mom. I've had a few Orchids before that never wanted to play again after the initial bloom. Yeah I know, small things amuse small minds and all that ;op
I am seeing some of the most lovely shop windows near my house lately - so I thought I'd share. I love this pretty design on the windo - followed by simple dummies showing off the clothes and a very intriguing collage behind. I make collages all the time so am a little biased but I think it works really well.
One thing I do love about where I live in London is the amount of fresh, healthy and sometimes locally grown produce. Sadly due to where it is - it's not so cheap.....but the colours are amazing and the vegetables and fruit taste how they should. One of the supermarkets here even has it's own roof top garden where they grow a lot of their own vegetables to sell. I think it's something everyone should look into more and more, not only is it good for the environment, it's also good for the pocket and you'd be surprised at the sense of achievement you can feel when you serve up some of the vegetables you have grown yourself.
And here he is for one last time. This little fella stole my heart and has left me with some very fond memories. It's made me see just how good for the soul a dog can be, and makes me all the more upset about the way some people treat such lovely creatures. Anyway - sad circumstances look like they will be leading this little one to be rehomed. We'd take him in a flash, if only landlords were not so daft about letting people rent and have a pet. So long buddy.....hopefully only temporarily.
As I left the house for work I was amazed at just how sunny it was after the last few days of it being abit cold and rainy - I really was blinded by the light as I came around the corner of my street - the sun looks huge - probably because it is - but it almost made it look like a giant ball of light in the sky - again - kindof because it is ☺
So I got up at the crack of dawn and was out of the house by 645am to go to the Post Office to pick up my presents from Lisa - the pinkest of parcels greeted me, and I greeted the contents with a big girly squeal!
