Carfty crafty zines and things

The lovely Sugar Paper Zine - yes a lovely photocopy zine all about making things - with free key chain and skrinking plastic to make your own keyring - which I promptly did when I came home from work - the result is above!

Chopper

This tree brings back fond memories of my childhood - we used to call the seeds Helicopters and find them, throw them in the air and watch them spin to the ground - it would keep us amused for hours - you've got to love a childs imagination or knack at finding almost anything fascinating!

Retro Read

This is the local pulic library, they obviously spend a lot of money on flowers as it always looks this pretty!

Tuesday 27th July 2010

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with J...............

This is Jet Pack - you might remember their CD from one of the first posts I made.  They played 229 The Venue in Great Portland Street last night, I was there and it was awesome!!

Star of the show for one more night!

The little man is going home.  Our house will seem very quiet - but I think I'll be able to finally read a newspaper again.  Currently he's tearing todays news to shreds!

Sunday, 25 July 2010

He's totally breaking my heart - but in a good way.

I told him I might only have him until the end of today and he stopped scrapping and gave me this look.........putty and hands comes to mind!

Good Morning World

Well, so much for my well earned and well deserved lie in.  There's something very sweet waking up to the big hugs and fuss of a little puppy dog.  He wasn't backwards in letting me know he didn't want his breakfast and wanted to go outside instead.  Where he proceeded to make friends with lots of new dogs, meaning I had to engage in proper conversation before waking up!

Look who came to stay.

The really really sad thing is I have to give him back at the end of this weekend - boo hiss!

Destruction

The front of this looks all nice and tranquil - I was quite surprised to see what was going on behind the screens.  It's nice to see so much work going on in London - even old shut down shops are starting to be opened up as pop up galleries and shops - genius idea!

..in an English country garden!

It is English but it's London not the country but this house is obviously home to a very keen gardener that has heaps of flowers and 'things' in their garden - it looked very quaint and English cottage.

Why look who just popped in!

Where I work gives me limited lunchtime walks and I was wondering how I was still going to find inspiration for my photo a day and this little fella popped up ☺

Just a little weed.

In the corner of our tumbling down porch lies this lovely little weed.  My mom would destroy things like this just because she hadn't planted them but I figure if they are pretty who cares what label you want to put on it, right?!

Your Own Tropical Paradise

It would be nice to have your own tropical hideaway or your own 'Fuck Off' Island as Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp have, failing that - in some not so lovely looking flats down the road - I spied that someone had used their balcony for more than a bike storeage or a wash line and had painted one side bright green, the other side bright pink and overlooking the whole spectacle is a giant pink flamingo!!

Doe Ray Me

I've spent the day with my friend Ana, having lovely girly gossips over ice cream and mashed potato - obviously at seperate moments I'm not totally disgusting you know.  Anyway - in the corner of her living room is this!?!?! You  have no idea how badly I wanted to play the harp as a child....sadly this one wouldn't fit in my pocket for me to bring home.

The Bells....the bells.

Not only did I find a Bell Tower that I never knew existed - there appears to be a cloud doughnut in the sky.

Thursday, 15 July 2010

There's a possibility that small things amuse small minds but.....

Every day it makes me laugh.  I always want to see some giant triffid type thing crossing the road in front of me and holding me up.  Funnily, it hasn't happened.....yet!!!

Nights out

I went out with my friend Jess tonight and I was going to put a picture of her in as the photo of the day as she so deserves it....but......I forgot to take a picture of her.  So, I took some photos on the way home on my phone.  It seemed to turn into a lomography camera....I'd had a few beers but honestly this wasn't how I was seeing the world or the world seeing me.....I don't think anyway....hic!

A Room With A View

Or at least a desk with a view.  This is the view from my desk today not bad huh!

The Magic Faraway Tree

Well not quite - but it's something I've not noticed before - if you look closely at the leaves they are almost white underneat compared to the deep green on the outside - it looks like an inside out tree at times - and there is a whole row of them on my walk to work.   Again, something I had never noticed until doing this blog.

Walkies?

So it was another fine day in London, I woke up deciding I should walk more, explore more......so off I set to the next town to get some salad and strawberries - I made the decision to walk back - it took about 25 minutes in beating down sunshine and a bulging shopping bag.  I had the Dum Dum girls playing into my ears to keep me company and to keep me in my own little world. I came home positively glowing - or could that be just totally pooped and tired out.  But I felt pretty alive.  Not sure if I look it or not though.  Also the perfect excuse to show off one of my favorite dresses.  Vintage sky blue with cherry blossom all over it!  Now to indulge in those strawberries.

Scorchio

It's hot hot hot in the city and the colour of this lovely rose seems to sum things up lovely! Just been to the park with my friends Toni and Stu and their baby Francis and I am now ready to melt!

Shooting from the hip

Quite literally! Having decided it was time for a pub lunch with my friend Ana rather than a walk and an explore I hadn't taken a photo of the day.  On my way home I decided I'd try shooting from the hip - and this is what I got!  Someone's make shift bike - half wheelbarrow half tricycle - it was um interesting all be it a bit rickety but seeing as the heat is 31 degrees in London today (add city heat to that and it feels like it's so much more) it was very tempting to sit in the barrow bit and wait for the owner to come back and cycle me home.

I spy with my little eye.....

A duck! In a basement mini garden - all the houses had nothing or really elaborate shrubs and plants - this one had a duck!

Bloomin' lovely

At the side of pavements, councils plant trees to make a street look lovely - all too often they sadly cut the trees too much and make streets that look like they are filled with witches fingers, but I digress..........around the planted trees there is usually, well not very much really, weeds and a collection of litter more often than not.  In the middle of one street these lovely blooms are surrounding the tree.  Probably carried from someones garden.  But it made me remember an undercover operation going on around the city.  People are becoming gorilla gardeners.  Sneaking out at midnight to plant up a roundabout with the most amazing shrubs....walking to work and chucking a handful of seeds here and there to make the streets more lovely - I'd like to think that these are a result of such attacks!

Hip Hop Skip Skotch

1.  I didn't know kids played on the streets of London anymore.
2.  I didn't think any child still played hopskoth
So what a lovely surprise to see a chalked out board (if that's the right term) on the pavements of a London street.

Eye eye.

Growing up people used to tell me to be careful because trees have ears.  They lied.  They have eyes.....with killer eyebrows.

I wanna go.....I wanna go to the Carnival

The yearly Steam Fair has rolled into town. Last year it was blighted with loads of 'hoodies' getting arrested every few minutes - so this year no hoods, no dogs, no trouble (hopefully). I love Carousels and would love to have one in my back garden. Actually, I'd love to have a back garden full stop but hey you can't have everything in this world.

Saturday 3rd July 2010

Without a doubt the star of the show! This is 9 week old Gabba and sadly he's not mine....yet.  I went over to my friend Lorraine's for a party and was greeted by this little fella, it was love at first sight.

Alright Ducky!

It's got to be the coolest drainpipe that ever existed.  It's definitely something I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been doing this blog, and also, if this is the kind of detail they give to the outside of their house can you imagine how amazing the inside looks!?!?

Princess of the Place

It has a turret.  And it's just down from where I work.  How have I not noticed this before?

(I couldn't get any closer as there was a very drunk  man and a very fiesty lady having a word off with each other!)
